Need turbo advice please...

    Thanks swaan! I appreciate the info! This turbo was on the previous engine before and after the tune and was set then at 455hp I believe. Just never did anything after the tune. And moved it over to the reman engine.

    Just keep in mind. That turbo pushing 35 psi is on borrowed time. Those stock Garrett's have week shafts and don't do well being pushed much over the stock 550 tune.

    Especially if you crimp off the wastegate hose they go boom!!!

    Luckily I haven’t crimped the hose off. I’ll be working a turbo into the budget. Thanks again guys!

    As swaan said .. a 78/1.32 borg is pretty much the go to non waste gated windmill for a stock cam and injectors truck. They can usually be had for 1600 to 1900 bucks depending how greedy the dealer is.

    If you decide to up the power in the future. Just swap the housing out to a 1.45 for a couple hundred dollars, unless you are getting 800 plus hp crazy.

    If you havent removed muffler(s), at least get a full flow style. Restriction in exhaust really really contributes to high EGT's

    Dang! Good eye! I didn’t even see that turbo on their website. Found the one that’s listed as “on sale” for $1600. Genuine Borg Warner: https://momentumworx.com/new-borg-warner-s410sx-s478-1496-988-0000-big-cat-upgrade/
    Found one also on eBay for $750 believe. Think that brand was hot turbos, brand new. Probably Chinese no doubt.
    I do believe “You get what you pay for” though.
    I’ll check out that one from momentumworx for sure. Anybody have any experience with them?
