What gauge wire do you use between the controller and the batteries..?
I have been wanting to do something like this. Could you tell me all about your setup, maybe?

I currently have 4 19'x 15.5" panels on my trailer. Charge rate varies on sun but i frequently can collect as much as 2.5 kwh a day.

10 gauge is the standard for solar panels. It will handle 30 amps. Most of the panels shown here are the common 100w poly or monocrystaline that are about 24x48". They can pull around 6 amps at max (100% bright sun at the right angle) so you could safely wire 4 or so without bigger wiring. Of course there is 12v vs. 24v, parallel vs. series mounting, etc. etc. Solar isn't hard to understand but not as simple as 2 wires either. The controller is more important than the panels.

It's fun stuff and it's free power!

    Wasted Thyme Thanks this.
