I'm looking for a unique type of trucking job. Assuming that I live near a good-sized city with lots of activity which I do near Charlotte North Carolina, have any of you ever heard of any companies that hire employees who basically tell them when they're available? I'm not interested in being an owner operator but just want to drive a company's truck. If I want to work two weeks and take off a week and they know this in advance, would anyone do that? Of course, I would turn the truck back into the terminal so another driver could use it if necessary but I just don't want to be on the hook for whenever they tell me I'm supposed to work. I was wondering if maybe a big company might do something like that. I really don't need or want full-time work. Fishing is too darn important! Thx
Anyone ever hire with non-forced dispatch?

Trillium CDL Staffing probably has what you want.
You work for the staffing agency, not the trucking company you will drive for.Coffey, Suspect Zero and brettw77777 Thank this. -

A company truck can only sit so long without making money.

I think your asking for part time work? Trucking companies arent casual work. No one out there is casual work
Coffey Thanks this. -
Check out Schneider. They advertise 2 weeks out, 1 week off. Just be aware that running that type of schedule can severely limit your income potential.
Coffey and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Nothing about trucking is part time . Work 2 weeks take 1 week off. Dont ever see how that could work unless u live in a very good freight area
