Home made ac setup under 1200$

It's been always tricky with gasoline powered generators on trucks, regulations, dangerous flammable gasoline. For this reason years ago i purchased a diesel generator to install on truck for AC, was around 3kw, Chinese made with small battery starter , quite heavy over 100lbs, was looking like this one , i paid about same under 1000$, US $563.0 |3KVA Air Cooled Diesel Generator Single Phase Open Type Diesel Generator 3KW 50HZ 220V 1500RPM|diesel generator 3kw|diesel generatorgenerator 3kw - AliExpress.
But after i got it delivered home and test it, was very noisy and smoky , no way to sleep in truck with that, it ended up sitting in my garage for a decade , few month ago i dumped it to garbage the motor was seized . There are all kind of small portable gas powered generators , i have a Yamaha, but not many diesel options.

 

Anyone on here find or use small diesel generators like are on RVs?

We had a little 4 kw kubota diesel generator on the sailboat that I used to run that had thousands of hours on it with out a hiccup.


The problem with most apu s is the accessory a/c units Mounted on them.

Nice little Kobuta generator and a minisplit seems the most reliable and economical way to go diesel.

 

Portable gas generators are probably illegal too, or you have to have a special more heavier tanks for them.

 

Air cooled diesel engines are noisy.
With patience and DIY skills you can have nice water cooled diesel engine and make generator easily.
Here is what I got for $198.00.

Radiator hopper on the top was removed, exhaust rerouted. Instead of radiator generator head was installed. Remote control module.

Here's an idea.... take a look at some of those fuel cells for race cars. They aren't too expensive .

1. Gasoline fumes?
2. Fire hazard?

 

Where did the water drip ?

 

i glued a funnel and hose on bottom to a bucket
