Hey guys, I was a trucker and joined the military. During my time in the military was unable to keep my DOT physical current. It expired between 1 and 2 years ago. I am wondering if anyone knows whether just getting one more will make my license current, or if it's been too long , making it necessary to complete extra steps? Thanks in advance.

Your license has probably been downgraded to a non commercial status. You usually given one year from the date of downgrade, to self-cert and have it up-graded back to commercial status without having to retest and do the skills portion.

Every state is different, so go on line and check the status of your license then proceed from there.

Phone call to your local office would be the better way to ask your question

After 2014 if you don't have a valid physical in the database, the state's remove the CDL. The license is still good till expiration. You just can't operate a CMV that requires a CDL. Most states have either a phone number or internet access where you can contact them about the status of a drivers licence.
