Everything in trucking is now done to push owner ops out of the industry.

Yep, if it passes I just may be selling the truck. I just run part-time and thus, I don't think I can afford to keep 2M of insurance.

    Doealex and Ffx95 Thank this.

That is a very misleading headline. The House did not vote on this. The Transportation committee voted to accept the amendment to the new highway appropriations bill to increase these costs. It still has to pass the full House voting and then ppass the Senate. Not a done deal.

Dino soar, Rideandrepair and nredfor88 Thank this.

While true, let's be honest. How likely is a bill like this to not get passed once it's out of committee?

So you think owner-operators are going to get hosed? Everyone is going to suffer the same. The ones with claims (higher loss run ratio) will suffer the most.

Unless you run Megas loss run ratio, you don’t know that. Insurance companies found out that drivers become the safest after running about 5 years. How many drivers do Megas employ with 5 years or more of experience?
