Cascadia transmission issue

Have you ever changed the oil and filter in transmission. Should be done every 300k. have you checked for any air leaks?. Air operated transmission

 

Sometimes they need adjustment on the "Electronic BS". Try pushing firmly on brake and letting "air pressure" ,build up solid. JMO

 

Have you pulled the electrical connector to transmission and inspected for corrosion?.
Also how is air system on the truck?.
Has air drier cartridge been changed regularly is the heating element in the air drier working properly. Just some ideas.

 

If it's a cold weather problem, that sounds like water got in the system and there's a little ice frozen someplace keeping something from operating.

That's why when it warms up it works, and no issue when it's not cold out.

 

hey, I know it’s years later but mine is doing the same thing. Only when it’s cold, but I may be about 2hrs into driving when it occurs. It happen one time last year in Dec (coldest day in Georgia) and it happened today (first day in GA weather was 30deg). Did you get it checked out? Both times it did it when going up a very very slight normal hill getting off the highway.

 

Freightliner says this is a common problem with DD12 transmissions built before August 2016. The issue is a split rod bushing.

Detroit DT12 automated manual transmissions may experience difficulty going into gear, especially when the transmission is not at operating temperature. CAUSE: The steel split rod wears on the aluminum transmission housing, causing the split rod to stick. The Shift Controller cannot read the correct position of the split rod and will not shift into gear. To correct this, a hardened steel bushing and new design split rod with three flattened sides were implemented with transmissions built in August, 2016. For Detroit-built transmissions (transmission serial number beginning with 716), the change took place on August 9, 2016, with approximate transmission serial number 716310E0008107. For German-built transmissions (transmission serial number beginning with 715), the change took place on August 29, 2016, with approximate transmission serial number (last seven digits) 1806530

 

Is this something that will be covered by them? Since they put out a letter stating this issue? Thanks for the reply.
