So for anybody who has wondered how to put a bigger radio in a 579 Pete with out drilling holes in the plastic I Finally did it Lol. Hardest part is running the wires. I look out the little Sun visor In the middle measured out the holes I took my bracket for my connex and bought one of the cheap adjustable brackets from the truck stop got some future super glue and a roll of electrical tape. Glue just the flat piece from the adjustable bracket to the top of the bracket for your radio I put quite a bit on it clamped it together for about 5 minutes then wrapped it in electrical tape as tight as I could get it. One it helps hold it together and also helps hide that you Glued brackets together. Then used the screws from the visor and tightened it down its sturdy and tight doesnt vibrate or shake. Then to hide wires and coax is a little tricky you have unscrew the visor clips take the curtain track down on the driver side take out 3 screws under it take out 3 screws holding the black tray In In the cubby hole Then you can see a metal cross bar you get to get the wires under it and pull Then out behind the windshield and plug Them in to the radio. Then put everything back together all total took me little over an hour with some cheap supplies from truck stop.

Thanks. Got this truck I'm November and I bought a little Uniden to put in the cubby hole boss man did want me drilling holes for a bracket so I didn't put my connex In here. Well I Got sick of being talked over and people not being able to hear me. So I was sitting over the weekend waiting to unload on Monday was about midnight Saturday night drinking on a 40 and looking up thinking how can I do it and then it just came together lol. I looked and looked online for a write up on it but I couldn't ever find anybody that had done it. I figured gotta be more sees people out there with the same problem

Any problems with blowing fusing due to the bigger radio? I have a new kw with the cubby and tried putting a small high powered radio up there but the fuses couldn't handle it.

You power wire could probably handle your radio unless you are in 100+watts range just try a bigger fuse.

My wiring is the same for my 25 and my 955 but i had to use bigger fuse.

    15A circuit is normal.

But how much truck noise is carried on factory power is more the problem.

It’s worth the trouble to run fused super-high strand-count wiring (in high temp jacket; usually NOT stereo stuff) from battery to radio.

I like USCG-approved ANCOR Marine Wiring (andl all connectors) for this reason. Tin-coated pure copper. 12/2 or 10/2 Duplex (as shown). Consult amp draw chart. Lowest voltage drop wins (against length; can’t afford much loss with only 13V to start with).

Build a harness. Disconnects at each end. Secure every 6” to 12”. Cover in flame-resistant split loom.

Easily removed you leave the truck.

Or, though the quality isn’t quite the same (temp resistance) you can have

    POWERWERX

make you a custom DC Power Harness with fuses (See site).

Just use NYLON high temp (300F) flame-resistant split loom as a little more insurance.

Does anyone know how to gain access to the coax on the drivers side? I can't seem to find a way to get access to change out my coax.
