1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

CR England has a good deal if you already have your CDL.
It is not posted on their website but it is what they are offering me.
I drove in the early 90's but still have my CDL.
    Everyone wants recent experience; understandably.
CR England offers a 1 week $500 refresher course.
I am starting on Monday 9/22/08.
After that you have to go through there standard training but it is paid (Not very much but something is better than nothing).
Thankfully I am in the fortunate position as to be able to use the money I am going to be making for other things other than supporting my family.
3 weeks of this training (easy money for them) and 3 weeks of that training (more easy money for them) and then you get your own truck.
Overall I would say this is a good deal for someone who is looking to get back into the trucking industry. It is only $500 (You don't have to pay it up front if you don't want to) so walking a way is of no concern. I think there solo pay is deplorable but there team pay seems to be fairly standard. I am not sure I like there sliding pay scale. It goes down with the more miles you drive. Not exactly sure how it works either. I am sure they will get at least one year out of me anyway.

I was also talking to MTC and there tuition is 6000. $6000? WTF is that.
I could pretty much get my MBA for that kind of money (Yes that is an exaggeration)(But so is their tuition). Hay I am all about people getting rich but sheet do you have to do it off of the back of one person.

For the most part I am going to feel the industry out for a while. Maybe I will buy a truck in a year or so, I may try and go with something like UPS (LTL and home everynight) I am also considering going to the brokering side of things. I may just give up the industry all togeather.

One thing I am sure of is that for the next year I am going to do everything I can to have a good time. Worked to #### hard for to many #### years doing to many #### things I did not want to do.

I hope my long winded post helps someone out.

I sure hope you fare well at C.R. England - I have been trying to get back into trucking also. In fact, our stories are remarkably similar. I have read an awful lot of things, pro and con, about CRE, and I am reluctant to pay them $500 to "refresh" my memory of what to do when I am driving for a living. That may be the only way back into the industry for us, though. Please read the "Ripoff Report" before you pay any money to anyone. All that said, good luck to you, and God bless you.
