leaf spring shackle bushings

Can you post any pictures? Is the distance between both the pins on the rear of the spring the same? The leaf's only flatten out when they are worn out. The bushings wear out and there becomes excessive play.

 

Worn bushings usually make creaking and popping noises when turning at low speeds, especially while backing.

How many miles? If you are replacing bushings ... it is only a few bucks more, and much much easier, to just buy spring packs. Replace the pins and shackles if you are over a million while you are at it.

 

Ok, if the bushings are not greaseable they are solid rubber. They may be worn, check your shocks, king pins. As I mentioned before, is the difference between the rear pins the same on both sides?

 

Ok, check at the edges of the pins for wear. But the side to side wear would not effect the ride, you would feel it in the wheel while turning and hear a banging or popping. I know you said it's not doing it. Check for broken springs, missing shims, loose u bolts. Check the king pins next. Get a bottle jack and jack up one side at a time. Use a bar to lift up tire and check for up and down play. Push in the top of the tire in towards the frame to check for side to side play. Are your stear tires wearing evenly?

 

Forgot to mention cab bushings. They will effect the ride

 

Ok, could be. Are the springs the stock Springs? Maybe they were replaced with 14k ones. If you can find a part number, a local spring shop could tell you what you have
