I see companies like TMC put their boxes around the center of the trailers and many others put them in between the spreads on 48ers. My trailer will be a aluminum 2016 reitnouer 48' and I'm thinking between the spreads because the 40k allowance? Any advice or tips would be helpful.

The only place I wouldn’t put it is between the spread. One blowout and that box is gone. In the center of the trailer, you have to worry about dragging it off, if it hangs below the frame.

My trailer had boxes in both locations when I bought it. The ones in the center were in much better condition than the ones between the spread. I think the ride is better in the center of the trailer and the doors don’t get all banged up. 64B65F98-CDDB-4534-BB66-E58721A8F0C0.jpeg But it looks a million times better between the spread.

Mine is in the center of trailer. One on both sides. Ur equal distance for both ends of trailer for setting up tie down equipment. Rather than having to walk back and forth from back of trailer... the downside is if u get a big enough bump/hill to drive over u can bottom it out... but i think it takes less abuse than one that sits between the spread , especially in the winter with road salt

I have 3 on my Reitnouer. 2 between the spread and then one in the middle. I would say it's pretty much personal preference where you put them. 20180921_113018.jpg

It does look nice! He is right, if you blow a tire, there goes your $700 box

I would suggest buying the Camlock boxes versus the older style... My next trailer will definitely have them.

I'll 2nd that 100%. Really screwed the pooch not getting the cam lock style. I don't have a headache rack, some my chains & binders are in the box. A binder jumped onto the lower inner lock & I played hell getting it opened back up one afternoon..

Just curious. Have you ever had any problems high centering with that box in the middle like that? Some work locations can be pretty uneven and if you gotta go thru an area that changes grades or step up over curbs. Even the box between the spread can high center in some conditions like that.
