Meat plants are usually drop and hook. There are a few that are live unloads but pickups are generally preloaded. Its a 50/50 chance with other customers as to whether its live load/unload or drop and hook. Sometimes loads are not ready and you'll sit. I don't know of any OTR drivers that have been paid detention or layover. I would assume it is included in the weekly pay guarantee. They tell you to get in/out times but I've never seen anything on my pay stubs specifying detention, layover, or breakdown. Oh and orientation consists of the following. They fly you to Omaha from the city of your choice. They have a van that picks you up at the airport and takes you to Sioux City. They will put you up in their hotel (Days Inn in North Sioux City). Its a decent hotel. Nothing real fancy. Orientation is 2.5 days but this is all dependent on driver's history and abilities. It consists of drug screen, physical (must use their physician...cannot bring your own medical card), road testing, lots of videos, introduction of staff, meeting your dispatcher, and assigning you a truck with your first load. I'm probably missing some stuff so don't hesitate to ask. I'm not a recruiter so I'm gonna give it to you straight up

Left K&B on December of 2017. One of the best OTR companies out there. I’m now doing local P&D, home every night and weekends off.

65 on the pedal. 62 on cruise. I had to ask around in the office. The cruise control is disabled when the headlights or windshield wipers are turned on in the newer automatics. There is an APU and inverter in all trucks. Some of the new trucks have refrigerators but most don't. They are now pet and rider friendly. They do not do 34 hour resets except on home time. You will be running on recaps for the most part. They will keep you busy. You almost always have a load ready for you when your 10 hour break is up
