You drivers should let your crying towel dry out once in a while.

It seems to me things started going down hill with the introduction of the CDL it has not produced better drivers and it is basically a license to work, also they take one of the most unhealthy jobs one can have and expect you to be what amounts to a track star.I know drivers who are in constant battle to keep their medical card, they sit in a truck 20 out of 24 hours and the human body responds as one would expect and you have issues.

I believe you have to enjoy driving and traveling to make a go of it. Be somewhat level headed and able to adapt on the fly. Nobody wants to sit the weekend in Philly or W Memphis but it happens.
We've been missing birthdays, anniversaries and graduations for decades...that's truckin.

Trucking had a long and proud tradition but most of those are out the window today in the want it now or need it yesterday, flip flop pee bottle world and the driver is last in the equation mostly.
If you enjoy the physical act of driving, possess the skills and strive to become better at it you just need to find the niche that suits you.
In the 70s and 80s otr was my calling but it was a bit different from today.
In the early 90s my needs changed and I found that driving private carriage suited me and allowed a life outside of the truck.
My advice to those who think they all suck is find your place..it's a big industry.
