My gooseneck trailer is currently leaf spring. If I add air bags does that mean I can haul air ride only freight? Or is it necessary to ditch the leaf springs and have ONLY air bags on the trailer?

"Air ride freight only", by gar, that's a new one. Air bags have the same rating as leaf springs, with none of the hassle. I wouldn't drive a spring ride anything today.

From a technical standpoint, adding airbags on top of regular leaf springs won't really change the ride quality much, if at all. Might keep the trailer from squatting when loaded, possibly make the ride even harsher since you'd be adding more "spring" capacity.

I think they’d want air only. Air ride is quite a bit smoother riding.

Unless you have a steady stream of air ride freight your time of ROI would take awhile.

As a shipper, I used to ship a lot of semiconductor equipment. Always Air Ride. Airbags only, no leaf springs. Sensitive stuff. Hope this helps.

There are alot of spring over air suspensions out on the road. I own a fruehauf that's air over spring.
Lite bug and singlescrewshaker Thank this.
