    Hello everyone.

I have come questions and concerns about 1099. I have always had taxes taken out of my check and recieved a w2 at the end of the year. I'm new to the 1099.

I am almost certain I will be starting a over the road job soon if everything goes well and it's paid cent per mile, 1099. Home weekly or by choice I can stay out longer. I will drive their truck, they pay for everything and schedule the loads.

Am i considered to be a independent contractor ?
Do I need a business license or LLC ?
Can a daily meals be a tax deduction while out on the road ?
What else can be deductible in this situation?

I've read on here that I'll have to pay taxes quarterly and to find a good experienced cpa. Anyone got recommendations on one ?
Should I set 25% of my weekly income aside for taxes or more ? I have 5 kids and wife and get back a good chunk at the end of the year so this might be beneficial I would think.

If it were me, I'd go to my local income tax preparer office and take care of those questions.
There's probably one in your town. Tell the person there you want them to handle your taxes and what do they need from you.

Here's another 1099 company if the one you're dealing with doesn't hire you.
Carolina Logistic INC – North Carolina Trucking Company ...

Due to my driving record most companies wont hire me. I've applied to companies for over a year just to be denied over and over again. My rollover 13 months ago has limited my choices to say the least

Well best wishes. You'll have a job soon anyway.
Carolina Logistic used to hire about anyone with a cdl.
    Looks like they're clamping down.

Western flyer, Coffey and C1hawkjr Thank this.

1099 certainly is less than ideal but you do what you gotta do until some time passes and you get you record straight. You will be able to deduct the standard meals allowance so save copies of your logs to determine how many days you can claim. No need to save restaurant receipts. Also any expenses such as work boots and gloves, tools etc can be deducted.
We get a lot of 1099 horror stories here but there are those that do well on a 1099. Just realize that if you get hurt, you won't be getting workmans comp. So if this is a concern you can look into something that could cover you. Good luck.

On the first page of this thread a gentleman sent me a link to a craigslist posting. That's the job that accepting me.
Since that day I've been on craigslist for wv and the surrounding states calling and filling out tons of applications. I'm getting tons of call back and emails.

    Coffey Thanks this.

Thank you sir. The plan is to work with the company for 2-3 years tops until I gain more experience and and that rollover not haunt me as bad. 2-3 years of recent driving will help me find a better job. Would eventually like to buy a truck and have my own authority

    Coffey and kemosabi49 Thank this.
