Hey all,
I am looking at upgrading to a Peterbilt 579 with their version of a smart wheel. Would switching to a custom aftermarket wheel be as simple as unplugging the connections and maybe removing the clock spring? Or would this cause problems with the multiplex?

I think it best to leave the stock steering wheel alone in the newer trucks, changing it is asking for trouble -

It will throw cab controller codes but no engine codes. Also you will lose all functions on there like cruise.
Steering angle sensor for abs might need to get recalibrated -
