1st weigh leave rear axle off scale
Reweigh with all axles on platform.
    Costs a couple bucks extra.

A lot of ag scales will let you scale each axle as you drive on or off. And they're cheaper, sometimes free.

When I pulled a 48 flat I've had as much as 23k on one axle with only 17k on the other, completely depends on how the freight is loaded

FYI, being that tail heavy may cause the 'tail wagging the dog' handling characteristics. Especially the case in foul weather.

Or if you are in boonies canada or some weirdo mining place you pull up an weigh every part on one plate.

Just follow the flashing light. If the light is going crazy know that the person doing the weighing is about to
    1. Cuss you.
    Or
    2. Hand you a ticket and go "I think you are good"

Those types of scales exist to :)

It should be simple but it's not, I put one axle on the trailer platform and one on the tractor platform. Got a ticket in Illinois, so was paranoid about it

On a CAT scale, when the person answers, tell them you need a split scale. It will weigh the steer and drives, then they have you pull up so the spread is split on the two front platforms. Then get your scale ticket. It will show all axles and the gross.
