Am I crazy or has the market really spiked up in the last two weeks? I read on Freightwaves that there are more outbound tenders right now than there has been since early 2018, and that tender rejections haven't been this high since the summer of 2018.

We are paying a lot higher on lanes than we have all year, are you carriers out there seeing the same (high rates and a lot of loads to choose from)?

A lot more loads yes, but brokers are still trying to hold on to the old prices.
I am literally sitting watching DAT right now and lots of loads get dumped on the board

Obviously can't speak for the carrier side of things, but I know I'm paying more as well. I think the folks that are trying to hold the old rates either a) had old bids coming up or b) are getting their ##### kicked right now.

The last two weeks have been flat busy. I've had people popping out of the woodworks needing stuff done.

Rates are up but same as Dune T said. They were just so horrid for so long, it only feels like they are sky high. They are just now starting to get up to where it makes sense to run trucks.

I do like what I’m seeing though.

Please delete this thread before 300,000 people run out and buy trucks again. I loaded my step for the first time in 2 months literally last Thursday. Hope it’s continues.

I concur. In the past I’ve spoke about trends and rates, but have held off so far post covid if we can call it that.

It’s crazy how many 10’s of thousands of people read all of these threads.

Based on what we are seeing and some data from freightwaves, right now it looks like rates are at early 2018 levels, definitely higher than they were all of 2019.

It would be interesting to know just how many MC#'s were deactivated in the last 120 days, along with how many carriers with 25+ trucks have gone out as well...

That's a good question Clausland, and I'm certain does play a part in rates increasing. I do think the major factor though is that there are a lot more shipments out there right now, freightwaves has the biggest piece of data to analyse in this space, and they are saying there are more outbound tenders going out right now than there has been since early/mid 2018.

You're right, that too. Also, could be most Americans are getting tired of listening to the communist media's BS of the sky is falling and want to go back to work. With the free government stay at home pay of $600 a week due to expire on July 31st, I'd expect the economy to rebound even more. Let's hope so anyway...
