What I have found, that if you keep your equipment looking good, and keep up on maintenance, and treat everyday like you are going to get a level 1 inspection. Generally they don't give you too much of a hard time. Of course there's always the over zealous DOT officer, that would write his own mother because the bug splat on her windshield obstructed her view....
To chicken light, or not

I was screwing around a few years back with a string of 12v leds that came out of the letters of a business sign on a building that got destroyed in a hurricane. They are bright enough to work on the engine without a shop light. I put them on a switch under the dash. The under hood and through the fenders glow at night looks like it’s red hot specially on the turbo side. Lol!Rideandrepair, bad-luck, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this. -
First time I ever saw that. Like to see a picture with the hood down. I like lights, though mine have been off for a while. I have a bunch of new ones, to put on, along with the rear light plate, and air cleaner bars, front and back. The new LEDs are nice. Old ones were always burning out. I find the cheap stringers work just fine, less connections than original harnesses. I’ve replaced the visor lights on both my Classics. No more problems. I honestly can’t see spending thousands on lights. Original, and maybe a few extras, but putting 90 lights at $10-$20 each. I can put that money to much better use. Some I see are too bright, nuisance to my eyes. I like things all original, maybe a little Custom, but not the Generic crap that’s on every other Truck. Nice if it’s a little unique.

Looks horrible in pics because you can’t see the light coming from the hood hinges and up on the radiator cap, though the radiator when the shutters open, and the overall glow.Attached Files:
