    I have never hear of anyone "locking " in fuel prices. Megas negotiate what's called cents pricing with the big truck stops. But that fluctuates with oil prices

    No, the entire system is skewed against us by allowing the truck stop industry to gouge the hell out of us with huge locked-in profit margins. These guys make a lot more on fuel that they want anyone to know, even with cost-plus.

    Many of the local coops will let you lock in a price for the summer if you contract a certain amount in the spring, but that’s about as close as you’ll get for buying fuel and betting that the price will go up.

    I am reading that you don’t want to store diesel for longer than a year. I see you mention a 10,000 tank size, so you should be fine.

    “...the quality of the diesel is not perpetual — diesel fuel can go bad over time. The fuel can only be stored from 6 to 12 months on average — sometimes longer under the best conditions...”
