Like slavery..but worse...lowest paying crooks on the planet..lasted one week.
Truck breaks down..they put money on your pay card..for hotel..then take it from your wages..pays $50 a day..breakdown..lmfao
Headlight goes out..they want you to wait in line at ta...bought a bulb..replaced myself..wouldnt reimburse me..wouldnt send me PO..
Trucks have nothing..not even an inverter so I can plug in my shaver..slow trucks..lose 20 mph every hill...I could go one..just don't do it..Finfn1372 Thanks this. -
Man, reading through the thread, liking everything I am seeing and then it ends with the above.
So what's the scoop here?. How much do they pay to start?. Is it the same for a fresh out of school rookie and a 10 year experienced driver?. I get that the big money plasma loads are team only, but what about linehaul?
I am interested in them mainly because the Dundee terminal is within striking distance of my house so would be ideal to leave the truck there and drive my car home for hometime.Upinsmoke Thanks this. -
I started at 45 cents no experience with kllm; 1 cent increase per year of verifiable experience. Website lists 10+ at 55 cents. Only the plasma run requires teaming at FFE.
Older trucks tend to be ####; I started in a 2016, but after being broke down for a week; I received a 2020. Newer ones come with inverters and fridges.Wasted Thyme, Redtwin and Upinsmoke Thank this. -
Sorry, long post
My husband and I team for FFE. We have been here for 3 years. Our 1st truck was a 2015 freightliner. It was used as a yard truck from Portland. The first 3 months it was in the shop quite often. The final straw was pulling into a Loves in Christiana, Tn. Our gear box went out. Towed back to the TA in Nashville. TA couldn't fix it, sent to Freightliner. 2 weeks before it could be look at. FFE sent a driver from Atlanta to pick up our load. FFE then rented us a pick up to go back to Lancaster. They paid us travel, broke down pay, and our hotel stay. After a couple of days in Lancaster was assigned a 2015 Volvo.
The Volvo, loved it, had inverter. It only broke down once. Headed from Chicago to Stockton. 7th injector and turbo went out in Lexington, Ne. (Middle of nowhere) Parts took days to come in. Breakdown approved everything right away. FFE paid for 9 days @ the Holiday inn along with breakdown pay. That was last summer. At Thanksgiving our truck was called to go auction.
Now we are in a 2020 Freightliner. Not as nice as the volvo, but it's new. The new trucks all have inverters and fridges.
On replacing light bulbs. We have a couple of times. We just buy it and submit it with our bills. Never needed a PO number to get reimburse. The couple of times that we've needed to pay for parking have also gotten that back too. We haven't run into any problems with the DM's either. Now as a newbie expect that you will get the crappier loads, but as you prove yourself you will get plenty of loads. My rookie year was almost 60k as a solo driver.Wasted Thyme, Upinsmoke, Vic Firth and 1 other person Thank this. -
The pay is based on your experience. Fresh out of school is $0.40 a mile for 6 months. Then $0.41 6mo - 12 mo. At the end of your 1st year it's $0.42
Linehaul is easy. Terminal to terminal. Drop and hook. All terminals are close to major freeways. When waiting for a load at a terminal you will get offer to help out local and regional runs. Do it! You get paid by the hour or miles whichever is more. If you show them you are a team player, you will get offered the better loads.Wasted Thyme, Upinsmoke, Vic Firth and 2 others Thank this. -
As for helping out local or regional, sure no problem unless it's major lumping, breaking down and restacking pallets etc. Not above physical labor, just would rather get paid to drive than sweat.Upinsmoke Thanks this. -
Went to the atlanta terminal..drivers just dropped trailers in middle of yard..blocking in multiple trucks..no yard jockey to move trailers.I had to unhook and move trailers..idiots!
