Just got my TN CDL learner's permit

I was able to get my learner's permit plus the tanker and doubles/triples endorsements.

I used the Android apps CDL Genie ($10) and CDL Prep (free w/ads) for 2-3 hours a day for a month, plus did a bunch of practice tests online. I read the manual once through and highlighted what seemed important, but if I had it to do again I'd spend more time studying the manual because the practice questions on the apps were not all the same as on the actual test. I had to guess more than I expected, but thank goodness I mostly guessed right.

It is funny, but trucker's forums say anybody with a pulse can pass the tests. I'm a pretty smart guy and I studied my butt off and I still didn't do as well as I wanted. If you want to pass it on your first try don't mess around, dig in and study the manual, then use the practice exams on the apps to measure your progress.

For the endorsements the apps worked well. It feels good to have them out of the way already and now when I get to school I can just concentrate on learning my skills.
