K & B transportation

Exactly. You made that kinda money in Houston yourself, I don’t understand why some on here feel like it’s impossible to make that kind of money as OTR/Local driver. I feel bad for @WesternFlyed and many others on here.

 

I can understand their misconception though. I mean lots of companies will lie to you about what they pay anyway trying to get you on. But I haven't made nowhere near what I did in Houston since. Haven't really done heavy haul since either. Not that it's not available. Just companies where I live now want a whole lot more time and work doing heavy haul for what I see as less money. Considering.

No. I will talk to drivers of companies I am interested in, or companies I am not, to get a lay of the land. Every single K&B driver I chatted with told the same stories. Constant, relentless nagging from dispatch. Not for me. Don't get me wrong, if that's your thing, hell yeah, sign on and be happy! But don't call it being a professional. It's not.

 

How many K&B drivers have you talked to?

 

It's not something I keep a score card of because I don't care. 10 maybe. None of them were good looking chicks, so they didn't stick out.

 

And if a bunch of messages and phone calls do not reach you asap, dispatchers will locate a nearby driver to bang on your door until it wakes you up. Even when you are parked less than 100 miles away with hours to make it to the appointment time and dispatcher not having an answer what you should do awake, other than him coming to work in the morning and seeing in the computer program your truck has not moved for 1 hour and you did not respond to his 'good morning'. Those K&B wild cowboys living in an isolated bubble in their small town up north NE got too used to treating drivers like cattle.

I will look to avoid K&B threads in the future since I have been active enough in sharing my experiences, the thing that upsets is that company poses a real danger for the lives of drivers and other people on the road because of the extreme way they deprive drivers of sleep, luckily it didn't translate to greater numbers of accidents. Then come along K&B fairytale tellers promoting 'great' pay to make it worth it, while in reality it's an average refeer pay considering the amount of hours and work needed to be put in, while omitting crucial facts.

No other company has put my life in danger like K&B did. One morning the dispatcher was pushing me to continue to drive by threatening me with pay as I tried to explain to that guy I did not have more than 4 or so hours of continuous sleep for days because of their forced-dispatch times and freebies I needed to do for them during off-duty time, after driving all night in the morning hours I was not able to keep my eyes opened and I needed to stop to get 2 hours of sleep. I hope the situations like those won't repeat to new drivers unaware what they may be getting themselves into.

There's no point of having Hours Of Service regulations when there are companies like K&B getting away with what they get away with.

 

Did you talk to safety about it?

 

That kind of question sounds insulting like you have no clue what is going on in K&B.

Of course I talked with the Safety, he wasn't interested to listen. Once a K&B driver complains, the Safety (a.k.a former Iowa DOT officer) is going to start making a file against the driver so in case the driver complains to the DOT, K&B is going to say it is actually the driver who was making violations by his own decision and K&B was about to take action against the driver. K&B is the worst kind of slick people.

Zombie drivers deprived of sleep is "The elephant in the room" with K&B. One of the dispatchers told me I am of no use for the company if I'll be driving by the book.

What this thread author described in the first post is pretty much how it goes with K&B. K&B will go to the extremes to maximize their margin of profit at drivers' expense, whether by not pay them the correct number of miles, blackmail them to perform unpaid work, deprive them of sleep or simply not get them home.

Please try to use the facts, the original poster used facts, I used facts by giving real examples. This is how you landed in this thread: "Best company for PROFESSIONAL drivers and go getters." If you want to promote your 'best company', use facts without empty marketing talk, otherwise you are bringing in chaos like in other threads where you clashed with other forum members.
