Not even sure if this is the right place to put this. I've recently started driving a 72MPH company truck and have been enjoying the extra speed compared to my last 62MPH company truck. I've noticed even though Ill be driving 5 over the speed limit, some other guy in a peterbilt would pass me doing at least 80MPH or so in a 65 zone.

I always wondered, how certain truckers drive obviously much faster than the posted speed limit and seem pretty chill about it? Do these guys ever get caught eventually?

And no I don't really care the fact that they are speeding since I am too myself, I'm just curious to know how they get away with it. It's always usually someone in a Peterbilt or a Kenworth.

I was driving in a 55 zone, I was doing 60 and he passed me pretty quickly so I am guessing he was doing 65-70. He slowed down half a mile before we passed a state trooper in the median. How the hell did he know he was there?

Do y'all usually drive faster than the posted speed limit?

I would never incriminate myself on an internet forum :D lol but really our license is our livelihood. Why risk it over something so dumb like speeding

Usually 4 mph over the limit. NEVER over going through small towns. No tickets, no nothing for the past 27 years. Guess I'm just a ##### like some of those fast guys say over the radio.

    Hi
I personally drive around 4- 5 miles above speed limit. I never had any problems on interstates. I never speed in designated zones.
Another thing to keep in mind is traffic flow. If everyone is going over the limit there isn't much risk.

I usually keep Google maps on while driving. It serves two purposes. First, I know of any congestions and the other is Highway Patrol alerts

    Hope that helps

Same here. 4 over or 20 over; the paycheck is still the same.

If a faster trip is the goal, keep your liquid consumption lower and the left door shut, and run. Its the stopping and getting back up to speed that kills your average mph on a trip.

I drive 65 tops. I can't see blowing all that money out the stack in wasted fuel.
I'll drive faster only for a time to get away from people at 65.
In small towns. I always drive 5mph under the speed limit.

In California where it's 55 on highways statewide, I keep my cruise control on 61 and get passed by cops all the time. In cities, I keep it pegged at the speed limit. In Oregon where they just changed from 55 to 60 last year on highways, I usually keep it at 64. I know drivers that have been ticketed at 65.
