TREE IS FALLEN
TREE IS FALLEN
Somewhat chopped up and put in dumpsters. But this isn't going to be that easy of a victory. Two and half hours invested. I'll approximate another 8 for complete and total victory.
We have moved on to another classic battle-

@D.Tibbitt where in MT are you holed up for the weekend?

My last male dispatcher was like that... those last minute loads would be "a few miles down the road" as he used to say, regardless of how much rush hr traffic in the area there would be... and there wouldn't be much time to call the shipper and confirm the load, get directions and make sure there would be a place to park after loaded and sealed...
I never pulled LTL BUT when I was on the Walmart dedicated, in the hands of Walmart private fleet dispatchers.... it was almost like you described... multiple stops, very low miles, rush rush, constant drop and hook... I had to call giving them my 11 hr, 14 hr and 70 hr every time I finished a load and they would give me next assignment over the phone right away. And keep me until I had no more time to go anywhere. Good thing I could take 10 hr break at WM.
But sometimes the store wouldn't have an empty dock to unload me, so I would have to drop my trailer, pull their trailer out of dock, put my trailer in the dock then pull it out, unhook, put the previous trailer back in their door and hook back to my trailer... Neither my company, nor WM would pay me extra for that.... other times their trailers at the stores would be full of trash and nobody but me would have to sweep it clean before going to shipper....
I remember one time, WM dispatcher in MO kept me for one whole week when I planned on taking a 34... I was in their breakroom and heard Walmart drivers complaining that they were not getting enough miles because WM was using OTR drivers instead... Yeah... cause OTR drivers like me cost almost nothing to WM back then...Last edited: Jul 4, 2020

When pulling for walmart, there is a pay code for every time you drop or hook a trailer. When you get to a store, it is SOP to drop your loaded trailer, hook the mt, pull it from the dock, drop it, hook the loaded, put it in the dock and drop then hook your mt and be on your way.
