I have to disagree. I hauled dry van while training with CRE (yeah, they have them..), and nothing but reefer after. I didn't see a difference, aside from having to make sure the reefer stays at a certain temp. Nothing hard about watching a green light or getting out and checking it when you stop.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Wow that's a shame. I figured someday Russ would take over and you are right, he is 100 percent a bean counter. I also hear now that won't hire you unless you go into their lease purchase program. Thanks but no thanks...
-
Well I'm pretty sure they won't take experienced drivers without them going lease but think they'll still take new ones for company. Thats if they can hold out from all the pressure they put on to lease. Supposedly they want to be mostly L/O's in the future but will always have company drivers since we are on forced dispatch. Always hate when I get the dreaded "we need your help" msg. Anyway, think thats all I'll say on the subject so as not to hijack this thread.
I will say, that as a company driver, I'm not really doing that bad and am averaging # 2900 a week here. Thats miles now and not money. lol -
Ya the funny thing is when they said i live out of the hiring area, the first thing they asked is if I was gonna be a L/O. Guess that tells me right there I don't want anything to do with them.

Can't always trust that green light on the trailer !! But in general, dry van is a bit less to worry about, in MY opinion....
And Garswell, better call Swift b4 that job is gone......... -
Yep, I kind of find it really amazing at what they will let slide if you'll lease with them. Have heard stories of things that would have got drivers fired but since they opted to go lease.........Won't repeat them since I don't know if they are true or not.

I agree, and I know that full well (had a green light, but reefer wasn't actually cooling). That would be why I said to walk the very short distance from your door to the front of the trailer and take a peak when you stop.
As far as swift, I agree. Call before it's gone. I have a friend who is pretty much hired by swift, but is waiting 4-6 weeks (and was told recently that it might be extended) for a start date.. -
Stab yourself in the neck with a fork, it will be more enjoyable.

Listen! stay far far far away from swift! period. This company will eat you up spit you out and they will say next! believe me , take the advice of everyone here when they tell you to steer way clear of swift they are helping you.
