Can old trucks run highway after engine replacement

I saw it once at Sage Jct in Idaho. But he was also claiming he was ELD exempt because of his engine but his Peterbilt didn’t leave the factory as a glider. Honestly the scale was only concerned with the ELD, they didn’t give a hoot about the emissions.

 

Yes you can. Just consider this, the transmission, and rears have 1.3 million on them as well. But with a rebuild you will know exactly what you have

 

Now, now, we have to remember, today, not all drivers are fluent in English, for whatever reason. I think what they are asking, is they have an opportunity to buy a tired Freightliner, with an incredible 1.3 mil ( total) and has a worn rebuilt motor, and the OP wants to know, if it's worth it to rebuild the motor again. I say, no. A truck with 1.3 mil, especially a Freightliner, will drive you to the poorhouse, but it will have a new motor. Plenty of trucks out there. Let this one go to a farmer for manure hauling, it's where most end up anyway.

 

rolling a set of rears and a trans in it is still cheaper then a new truck, although I would of personally done pre emissions if I was going to rebuild a truck to that extent

I agree. The OP didn't mention the year of the truck, only mentioned it was rebuilt in 2014, but I am thinking it is not a pre emissions truck

ah just reread it and you are correct, I read it as a 2014 truck, 08-16ish were bad years for emissions,

I’ve said it before but anything 07 and down is worth rebuilding, although personally If we’re going back that far id do eld exempt too, anything else just buy new and keep throwing them away every 5-6 years like companies do now
