14/15 had some teething issues. They use a variable vane oil pump, operates identical to the 700r4/4L60e transmission pump that was in production for ever. They were prone to random failures that would roast the engine. Pretty much unheard of now.
Saw a few vettes that dropped valves. 1 customer on his way down from fort mac dropped one 200km away. He said stuff it and drove the rest of the way. That was a mess.

He was choked. Dropped intake valve by grassland. Drove it to downtown Edmonton. Warranty denied, had a programmer and aftermarket blower on it. Both valves pounded into the head. Wrist pin riding in 2 grooves in the cylinder. Shocked there was no hole it the block. Had 13000km on it.
I felt his pain last year when the freightliner car hauler I was driving dropped a valve at the curve south of boyle. I knew she was done, peddled and limped it to the service road in boyle 12km away. I had no desire to sit on the shoulder. 668 000km on a cummins ISCLast edited: Jul 5, 2020
