    Have a question. The other day went to use my TND740 and nothing. Wouldn’t turn on. First time I’ve had any problem. Only about 7 months old. Retired and don’t drive as much now so I’ll have times when I may go a few days off the road so I take the GPS with me and set aside till next time. I did plug it in to electric outlet and it did charge up and turned on. Contacted Rand and they told me it should have power to it at all times. I would think when I hook it up in the truck it would charge. Anybody else have this problem? Should I leave it plugged in at all times even when at home? If this is so I’m surprised the battery died even though I wasn’t using it. Thanks.

    Power all the time? Seems silly... what portably tech device in the last 30 years needEd power 24/7? Even full computers can sit powered down and will wake up once turned on...

    I seriously question the idea that it needs power 24/7... I’ve left mine in my truck, powered down, and returned to its batteries being dead and it still works... {knock on wood}

    How many days was it away from power on this particular occasion?

    I also think that their advice of 24/7 charging is bologna

    Probably about a week. Never had the problem before. Makes me wonder if I hit the power button when I put it away.

    I was just curious. I don't have that make or model.

    In my mind, it shouldn’t matter... I’ve had mine completely dead and batteries drained and once the battery was charged up enough, it powered right up.
