I have 2 years current experience at the same company hauling 53 footers. My wife is finishing CDL school and should pass the skills tests in the next week or 2. My current employer will hire her and let me train her but this small company has never had a team and I'm afraid our average length of haul will be less than 300 miles. Are there any companies that hire teams that will let me train her? We live near I-81 in northern Virginia if that helps. I'm hoping Chinatown chimes in. :)

Check with Old Dominion Freight Line.
Teams can make around $125K for each driver.
This company hires new cdl grads. and they headquarters is in Virginia.
Some runs are west coast and back. Need doubles/triples/hazmat endorsements.

Well you got a lead on several companies, so that's good. But just curious why would your avg haul be 300 miles? Is that what it currently is? Being that your at a small company with no teams, it will be a new experiance for everyone all the way around. I would just ask the company what they think they will be able to give ya. Since your at a small company Imho that is the best place to be at least for her first 3-6 months.
    1) there small and will work with you and her.
    2) running as a super single, will give her a chance to make all the rookie mistakes. Without you having to kill yourself running on her log, to be on time.
    3) after they and you feel comfortable with you as a team. They will do thier best to take advantage if that and maximize your (and there) revenue.

I love my wife, but there is no way I would team with her.
    1. She can’t shift, and has a hard time backing the car straight.
    2. If I had to work for her, I would unionize.
