Not really sure, worse case scenario is you maybe have to come on as a dock worker and then just go through the dock worker to driver program, in your case you wouldn't have to do the DMV portion because you are already licensed.

If you are familiar with the term extra board , it's really just another way of saying that, as Junior stated it is a regional position , basically it's a linehaul driver with no assigned run or bid, you just do what's needed by central dispatch on a daily basis, cover a vacation, a sick call, or a extra or unassigned run as examples.

    McUzi Thanks this.

Ok how often do you have a week without much work on systems or do they just have you work the dock when there isnt any runs to do?

I think that would depend on the terminal, if it's a hub where they have 20 to 30 extraboard drivers at their disposal, I had heard of drivers sitting at home, in my case the terminal I am out of only has 10 line drivers, we did have 11 at one point, 9 on assigned runs, 2 running systems, I was number 11 and hardly ever sat, but I never said no to anything either, I ran out of town alot, anywhere from three days to the whole week, but there were other weeks I was home every day, it just depended on freight, and covering vacations when necessary.
