Are they different than recruiters from the other mega carriers? The WM recruiter i talked to yesterday was super nice & answered all my questions professionally. After he went over the info for orientation, pay, etc, he said now i want to know what questions i had & then gave me the conditional offer to attend the orientation in Casa Grande, Arizona.
I currently drive for a foodservice company & told him i have always driven automatic transmission & never a manual. He said that`s no problem because the DC i`m applied for has all auto`s therefore i would be training on an auto at orientation. However, from what i`ve been reading on these boards i will be driving a manual during orientation, can anyone of you confirm this.
I told him that i drive a single axle truck & pull doubles 99% of the time, i drove a sleeper once about 5 years ago & that was for only one week. He said that was no problem either that WM would help me along to get adjusted to driving a sleeper & pulling 53ft trailers.
When i`m done with orientation on Friday i would report to my DC on the following Monday, i told him i wanted to give my current employer a two week noticed, he said i needed to take care of that before i attended the orientation.
Any advice will be much appreciated, thanks!

I worked for walmart for almost 4yrs and as far as I know and understand the current process of hiring (different from when I got hired on) you're basically at orientation to be hired on a contingency that you pass the pre trip and road testing in Casa Grande. So basically you're leaving your current employer once you start..
However... unless you have arrangements made with them with some sort of PTO, verbal agreement however people do it if by chance you fail the pre trip or road test you will be headed home jobless!?
I remember right before I left walmart this was the new hiring process and seemed really stressful for new hires at first unless you have arrangements made with current employer. -
I had no clue Walmart had recruiters for the drivers? How do I get in contact with one?

Casa grande has a mix of auto and manual, just let them know you're going to be in a DC thats all auto and theyll put you in one

I heard that Casa Grande is no longer doing orientation and that each individual DC is doing their own now thanks to Covid.
truckdriver31 Thanks this.
