BigDaddy, thanks. I am not sure I am going with ATs or not, I want to drive local once I get my experience. I just know that most of these companies are pretty much the same and depending on your overall attitude, you can have a decent time. I have had crap days at CRST (mainly paydays...lol) but when I am cruising along some of the most beautiful places in the country, I realize this WAS a wise decision for me to make.

I do think ATS is a decent company compared to most and for heavy/specialized hauling, they do pay extremely well, you just gotta start at the bottom. If after my contract is up and I don't go to BTC, I will consider ATS to learn Oversize Hauling.

They're probably not half bad if you're a company driver. As for the lease operator scam I'd listen to these guys. Sounds like you're gonna go in with the right attitude and make it happen anyways though. I'm sure no-one's ever tried it that way before...

Anything I do is gonna be as a company driver. The whole Lease thing doesn't appeal to me regardless of how good it is. With fuel prices they way they are, I can probably make just as much driving for the company. Although I did hear produce shippers in Cali offering $5000 cash for drivers to come get produce and take it to the east coast.....but after fuel, truck payment etc, even thats not that much profit.

my husband worked for anderson for 4 years as an owner operator. We never had any problems getting loads. he had a great dispatcher with them. he even went back to them as a company driver but he hated that...

Depends on what you are doing, I imagine(unless they have changed it) since you are in St. Cloud doing your'e orientation, you are going flatbed. you will get a physical, road test, do the usual paperwork, get instructed on proper tie-down, and then get assigned your'e truck, since you are going to do l/p, you will get your'e truck and do the paperwork on it then spend the next year pinching every penny

I think they also do vans there as well.
Stay out of the bar Sunday night. You have your drug and achoul tests Monday.
Use good judement on your road test. They will fail you if you make any major mistakes.
