didn't get out of the final yesterday till 1200.
drove to jurupa terminal to grab that load to deliver here.
didn't get.here to 2300 last nite. uggg.

I ended up making the Bronx delivery same-day, but I was so POed about the ordeal I didn't wanna talk about it till now.

I ended up making the Bronx delivery as I always do NYC deliveries if I have a student.

Well NYC happened. Made a right turn in a turn lane designed for commerical vehicles. Well there was two illegally parked cars in said turn lane, thought I'd clear them but I stopped an inch away. Couldn't go forward, couldn't back out easily since I had manged to maneuver in the perfect way to put one right in the middle of my split axel. Didn't touch it, but one axel made it past the bumper, other was going to hit so I stopped. Blocked that lane for 44 minutes till someone brought a floor jack out and we rolled the car closer to the curb. I had people stop traffic so I could back out. Had my student even twist a street sign so I wouldn't scrape it. Took an entire intersection to make the turn that should have been easy if not for the two illegally parked cars.

Then proceed down a 1 way street to the unload point. Cars double parked on 1 side cars parked on the other side too. Just enough to squeeze my truck down the street for a delivery work nowhere to park. Blocked the street for an hour while they figured out how to unload the lift gates they ordered.

Made buffalo delivery next day. Went down too Avanel NJ and waited a day while getting a front end alignment, finally went under a 12,7 clearance (mind you my truck clearance is 11'6") . Got this load headed to Laredo, two induction coils for a steel furnace loaded on a stepdeck to make it legal. Had to measure, it was right at 13' on a step. Would have been a pita on a skateboard.

Be in Laredo tomorrow. Just letting my student burn driving hours on this one. And stopping in alot of truck stops to get him backing practice.

My DM called the next day and as a joke said "so you ready to go back to the Bronx?" I had texted him the play by play with photos. And we traded war stories, since he drove for the Division as an Owner op for 10 years.

I've done many before, but I'm in no rush to ever go to NYC again. Granted just like this case it'll probably be another near 3000 mile run and I'll still do it. Since that's pretty much what gets me in there every time. But I ain't doing it with a smile lol.

Picking up a load tomorrow morning and going to MN near home.
It's a few days before my requested home time date but I'm using this load as my home time load.
My truck is due for a b service, but if I take another load I will be stuck getting it done before I go home. That would get me home way too late.

I wish we still had our terminal there so I could put the truck in the shop as I went home.
No such luck anymore.
