I can't speak from experience, but there were a couple of kids who tested out while I was on boarding. I spoke with them and they were both eager for their first run by the house since they had been training for 6 weeks.

With Prime it will depend 0n your trainer and how often they go home because the training is not 4-6 weeks it is 50k miles. Some people do get home during that time but when training with a someone doing lease purchase you will more then likely be helping make a $4k a month lease payment... I Know people can request going home but won’t get paid for that time of course.

    Not sure about Wilson.

Right. You’re talking several months training with these companies.

one company i had went to work for, out of Ohio, i was there for 4 months. but there were extenuating circumstances.

    1) they had no trainers that lived in my area

    2) i had to wait for a person FROM my area to get thru his training, with HIS trainer.

    3) so i stayed out there, had several different moronic co-drivers in the mean time.

when the guy from my home town finally got done with his trainer, we BOTH got home for a week.

then back out on the road for our routes, as a team, which that was mandatory for "up to" 3 months.

but he quit, he couldn't take being away from home, i stayed on, for a while longer

so it really depends on your trainer, if he/she lives in your area, but frankly, the quicker you get thru training, the quicker you WILL get home.

With my company I Never went home during training but luckily for me the actual training was 2 weeks in orientation and 3 weeks of me driving a trainers truck. Then I was allowed to go take a week or more off, get my #### and go pick up a truck. I was dropped off at home by the trainer and then got a paid airplane ticket back to pick up my truck.

I seriously doubt that it's going to be anything as nice as that with the cheapskates at Prime. If it was me I'd ask about driving your own car to their place and using it to drive home if you think they are going to leave you hanging there for months.

My training was a week of orientation, 5 weeks on the road, then a week back at the terminal. I didnt have to wait for a trainer after orientation but that's not always the case, it could be a week or two. So, 7 weeks out, plus any time waiting for a trainer, which was paid time. Then we got a week off at home to relax and pack. This is for long haul over the road. You might pick a different flavor of trucking. Local, regional, or something else. Then training is going to be different.
