Wanting to restore my peterbilt side hood emblems. No longer are red as it had faded.
IVe got that rubber stuff off the top (read it was acrylic). But Im trying to figure out after I repaint the emblems what I can use to refill in the emblem? The clear stuff i pulled off the emblem is almost rubbery.

Yeah i wouldnt want it to turn yellow. Im not sure what the original material is on here. But it is flexible. Maybe some type of acrylic or something?

They'd look much more old school with just a clearcoat IMO.

When I was a little kid at bible school I think? ,we did a project where we took a piece of wood and layed a picture out of a magazine (Hot Rod is what I used) on it and then took a huge bottle of Elmer's glue and covered the entire surface with it and then let it dry for some time
The Elmer's turned clear and it was like a real thick polyurethane clear. Reminded me of what I peeled off my KW emblems. I replaced with new but still have the old ones and may try it for grins over a non or color.

I wondered about that.... wonder if polyurethane clear like for wood working might work? I almost think automotive clear coat poured on would likely shrink away from the substrate pretty quick as it gassed out. At one time, Iowa80 had some sort of adhesive backed deals for the purpose of changing colors or rejuvenation of Pete ovals. Just stumbled into them when looking for a fix for the KW. There is a place in Ca. (I think that is where) called Cool Design.ninja that makes them for KW emblems and while they don't look quite or, they do look good. Much better than faded out decor. I have seen one set in person . They can also be used over new emblems to protect them... for around 30 or 40 bucks for a set of 3 I may get some for my new emblems before winter. Sorry if I am off topic but they may do Pete too??
