I'll have to look into them but so far Oakley has been good. Sign on bonus, willing to pay for my expired medical card BEFORE i go to orientation and even said to save the gas receipts if I needed help with gas. Then i asked to reschedule to give me 1 more week with family.... There response, "No problem".

So I'm going to try them out at least for a few months and see how it goes. I got physical/drug test on the 27th and they fly me out to go to orientation on the 3rd.

    Redtwin and Smut Thank this.

As far as Indian River Transport goes, they have been trying to verify my employment so im guessing they really want me to go work for them. Ill Keep them as an option but not a first choice.

Tri-State Motor Transit talked to me for an hour. She said I pre qualified and sounded like I could get on. Only problem woth them was you have to team drive and you have no say so in who you team with. The recruiter was rude but straight to the poiny which I like. Buy I felt like I couldn't ask her anything because of how rude she was. They have a guarantee pay with mile system. A lot of people said its to much work and to dangerous for what you get paid. I might consider them if I had my own pick of who i teamed up with but for now, nope.

Sherman Brothers, i actually don't even remember talking to them. I think I wasn't in their hiring area maybe?

I keep updating here and on Oakleys transport considering there's not much info about this company. I was thinking about doing a YouTube video about Oakley Transport bc there really isn't a whole lot.

I spent a good 20-30 minutes talking to an Oakley driver at a tank wash and I would say you are on a good track starting with them. Without my mentioning anything I have picked up from this forum, he confirmed all that I have read here.

He had a newer Volvo, did 68MPH and had outward facing camera only. He said they were sticklers about making sure all the steps were completed to make safety bonus, but he said it was no big deal. Just have to send macros with seal checks every time you started and stopped for the day.

He had been with them 8 years and had over 40yrs total experience. I can't see anyone with that much experience staying with a company that long if they weren't treating him right.

He confirmed that food grade had seen some slowdown due to Covid, but they still kept him moving. He mentioned dry bulk sugar out of GA and Chicago area but seemed to suggest that tanker was the better division to be in. I didn't press him on why.

He, like the Bynum driver I spoke to, warned me to stay well away from GTS. He gave me some back story with the company and mentioned that a few Oakley drivers went to GTS but didn't stay long.

There’s a lot of drivers here that have been driving a long time & have been here a long time.

The very first day of orientation, the owner came in & said, “Listen, we care about our drivers. All of here at corporate are aware of the fact that none of us turn a profit for this company. You guys are the ones that pay me every week. You’re our most important asset.”

    I’ve enjoyed my time here.

Search for Oakley Transport. I started a thread I update regularly. Also shoot me a private message and I'll give you my number if you want to call me. Ive liked it so far. Definitely easier than my last job. Pay is decent as well.
