Hi, I have a 2005 630. The ac compressor would intermittently quit for a few minutes for a few times every hour even with the temp knob turned to max cool. It would just blow warm air in the mean time.

If I turned off and restarted the engine the ac compressor would work for a few minutes then quit again in a few minutes. After a few minutes it would work again and repeated few minutes later.

Where should I start looking? I am thinking may be either the coil temp probe or the ac low side cut off sensor under the windshield?

Could be a number of things. Wire, sensor, low freon? I check the freon first. Mayby go from there. You could possibly move wires around when its taking its break and not working. Like by sensors or areas where they could be wore through. Good luck.

Low pressure cutout to save compressor.
Add some Freon to the system.

Just want to clarify when the compressor was working I got nice cool air. It would cycle on and off normally. when the compressor decided to quit I got warm moist air. And it happened randomly ie something at idle and while on highway as well. But if I restarted the engine it mostly would start working again.

Assuming the Freon amount is correct then what is the next most likely cause? It has been going on for a couple years and there wasn’t any leak in the system.

@DUNE-T had a similar issue. Hopefully he’ll be along shortly.

My issue was a temp sensor inside the cab

It could be number of things. The first thing you need to do is recharge the system and check for leaks. After that you start checking on other things

Must be someone else I was thinking of. Seems like it was a bad relay.
