@Hurricane69
Alot of it is because of the "buying my first truck pulling dry van under 40k and have no knowledge of working on engines, I need a 600hp 6NZ" crowd.
It's not the only thing. They were all good in those years. I have publicly put my truck and a few weight slips on a public forum. Not saying I'm right. But ain't gotta be yellow to work.
As dad would say. "Need and Want are two different things kid".cke, farmerjohn64, Rugerfan and 7 others Thank this. -
"20 years ago".....both my 'ol junkers are 25 years old...
Ya know I'm just messing with ya....cke, farmerjohn64, PoleCrusher and 4 others Thank this. -
I wish my old junker was 25! But nay nay, the old wife is still doing fine at 29 for the 33rd time!

My tractor is 21 and my flatbed is 25. I would like to imagine the tonnage of steel that has set on the deck. My flat dad bought wrecked and 5 years old. Seen him put 99,900 on the deck as a spread and not be gun shy. It's still nicer than most 5 yearold trailers. But it's getting near its end of life as a coil hauler. Hard to give it up, considering quality of new trailers. I'm pro old iron. After 2003 they all went to sheet.Lostkeys, cke, farmerjohn64 and 7 others Thank this. -
Being a few years older than you I'm gonna drive what I want. I'm not a penny pincher....that being said I drive like a blue hair. My fuel costs are so low since parking the hopper they really don't matter. I've never had my truck on a dyno but according to Kurt I should be around 800 which is max on my block. That's why I have a set of injectors from Greg still sitting in my closet. i need a 1LW block to really get any benefit from installing them other than smoother idle. They are flowed with three different injector codes for different fuel levels and I'd have to run them at the lowest level and still worry about cracking the block.
That being said my truck is no hotrod...you have to be patient and slow with it...rolling out of the throttle between shifts or you'll load it up. But if you keep it above 1700rpms three ain't much that will slow it down...which with my tranny is 73 in the big hole or 58 if you drop one which is where I run most of the time in hills cause I'm normally on two lanes. I can bury the boost gauge but normally don't ever take it over 30. Most people would hate driving my truck or blow it up in a week.
That's why they make different flavors.... Most wouldn't like mine but that's my choice but that's one of the benefits of paying of for your own lunch....ya get to order anything on the menu.
I'm sure not gonna try and change your mind... But I'll always razz ya a little.
My buddy runs a stock 60 series. I'm always asking him if he wants a push when it gets hilly.... He always tells me he's just got a little motor. Stop and go he runs away from me and I have to run him down.cke, farmerjohn64, Flint1 and 8 others Thank this. -
Well it was a nice 2 days at home. Time to go load in Waco and head towards Hobbs.
