there would have to be some deadly accidents caused by someone using a cb for the govt to ban them.
-
If gov't legislation doesn't ban them, the safety groups will just go through the insurance companies to do their dirty work.
-
It doesn't have to be specifically about the CB to make it illegal. The one in GA was worded as a handheld communications device. Worded to cover cells and include texting, but guess what, your CB mic is also handheld. CBs could wind up being lumped in with all the cell phone abusers. Again in GA it was worded so you had to use a handsfree device, not to outright ban the use, but do you have a handsfree device for your CB?

I believe that this will take the same route as random drug testing. Start with the transportation industry, use the "in the interest of public safety" line. Before you know it, it applies to everyone except those who make the laws, and those who enforce them.

I use a blue tooth. There are too many times I get calls on my next load or freight being offered to me. Or talking to family or friends or a shipper or cons that gave me bad directions and I need to know how to find them. I do not see a problem with a hands free system. I do how ever see just about every 4 wheeler yacking on one and a lot of big trucks as well.
I was parked at a entrance to the pilot in corbin KY awhile back and just about 8 out of 10 drivers rolled in with cell up to their ear. If you are a driver why do you not have a blue tooth? You know you are going to be on the phone a lot...
Big Don and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
My reason is quite simple.
I have yet to find one that I can hear clearly on. -
Same here, Roadmedic. I heard great things about the Jawbone, went and spent the 100 and some dollars on it.. what a waste.
The peterbilt i was driving at the time was the quietest truck i have ever been in.. and if it diddn't work in that, I'm screwed as far as anything else goes.
I can't see myself wearing one of those big walkman types, it almost defeats the whole purpose.
