Something tells Me farmerjohn64, is a quick Learner. I see a stretched out, Large car in his future. Lol. After all the facts are collected, and studied. He’ll throw all Logic to the wind, and do the most important thing of all. What he wants to do. That’s what matters most. Being happy with your Truck, whatever you decide, is most important.

My ISX is basically divided into 3 major parts.
The front with the gear housing. That gasket replacement is $5K.
The middle. Inframe- $18K
The ###. Rear bell housing.
I've had the ### end done. Bell housing gasket, rear main seal, motor mounts, clutch, machine shaft, carrier bearing- $5K all like new. Trucks sits and rides phenomenal now.
Probably do gear housing next or gear housing and inframe together will save about $2500.Rideandrepair, lovesthedrive, tommymonza and 1 other person Thank this. -

You probably wouldn’t gain much if anything for mileage with a new truck ?
Just curious as you seem to be the only one in here doing the newly used truck experiment.Coffey, Rideandrepair, lovesthedrive and 1 other person Thank this. -
Just about the entire aftertreatment is new. All the big pieces except the egr and egr cooler.
I think it also boils down to how do you like your truck?
Raggedy Ann and Andy is just gonna break on you, and people are going to get tired of your BS " My truck is broke."
Tows start at about $800 and go up, big savings there.
You'll get in trouble with the DOT.
Basically you're F'd then.
The key is money management. Those big hits are the cost of this business.D.Tibbitt, Rideandrepair, tommymonza and 1 other person Thank this. -

Fix stuff when it breaks, none of this "if it still moves it's not broke," crap. I know a guy who won't fix the brakes on his crap because "that's what Jake brakes are for," that is literally word for word, and he's worth millions could buy all new and pay cash.Coffey, D.Tibbitt, Rideandrepair and 3 others Thank this. -
Just asking for some honest info from someone who is dealing with it.lovesthedrive, Rideandrepair and farmerjohn64 Thank this. -
Motor is still strong. MPG is about 7.4 overall. That's why i may hold on the inframe and just do the gear housing.
It's got no blowby. And when the dyno'd it when they did the aftertreatment it was clean and green. That was about 8 months ago.Coffey, lovesthedrive and Rideandrepair Thank this.
