I have been lurking a while... live in the WNY area and have not seen much posted about Leonards... I have my permit.. I know I would have to go to a school first with Leonards. Can you give me your opinions as to where you would start for a first job in trucking

Are you going to attend a private cdl school?
How close are you to Syracuse or Buffalo or Farmington? -
Leonard's is a very good first choice.

Rochester... could go to a private school- but I would have to be out of a job for at least 7 weeks- whereas Millis school is only 3 weeks -
One other question- applied to a company for prehire- went through their background check and dmv check... my mvr shows clean (through hireright)... not tickets etc... I did have some issues 9 plus years ago - 2 duis... Company policy is nothing in last 5 years... however their app asks about prior licenses and if they have every been suspended.. Recruiter says don't worry, and I can answer no to the question- they only care about last 5 years
Should I be okay- don't want to quit my job and then get kicked out of orientation... -
I don't know about that question, "have they ever been suspended?"
Company is concerned about DUI in last 5 years, which you haven't had any during that period.
That's a tough one you'll have to decide. Companies will find out about any license suspensions when they start the background checks.
Do any cdl schools have night or weekend classes? Some do that so they don't have to quit their regular job while training for a cdl. -
They have already done the background checks through hire right- nothing showed up... so I am approved for their school...
-
In my current job I work from 9-7 Monday through Saturday- with one day off during the week- so if I went to a private school I would have to quit my jobChinatown Thanks this.

I have already done the background and MVR check through hireright- so I am set for their school- but I have to fill out the app and bring with me... Nothing is showing up on either (company forwarded me the results)
