Gotta disagree with ya slightly, Donk.
I've walked thru a cloud of "rollin' coal" in a truckstop, thrown by one of those big 'ol pre-emission large cars.
It doesn't smell quite the same anymore. I think it DOES smell "less sweet"......
When I stopped hauling fuel in 2004, #2 Home Heating Oil was still high sulfur. We delivered it to some farm co-ops as #2 off road diesel.
There was both on-road (clear) and off-road (dyed) Low Sulfur diesel, and Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel was coming, but was still delayed by the lawsuit.
So, maybe the "sweet" part of the scent comes from the sulfur. Anyway, I kinda miss it.
What if it Snows?

I'm guessing they would then make the argument that you were "remaining in readiness to operate a CMV", and therefore "on duty".LoSt_AgAiN, G13Tomcat, WesternPlains and 2 others Thank this.

Have to keep things on the need to know basis.

Good for you!
I took it 3 yrs ago. I had a great time.
While doing the "short stop" exercise, I locked up my front wheel, "Super-man'd" over the bars, and belly flopped on the asphalt. Knocked all my wind out.
The instructor turns me over on my back, shouting, "Are you all right? Are you all right?" and shaking the crap outta me. Textbook response for unconcious and unresponsive person, but I wasn't unconscious, and I was only unresponsive because I had no breath to speak.
So he's still shaking me, "What's wrong, what's wrong?", and finally I was able to say,
"AIR!!!"
"Oh, just knocked your wind out, huh?" He was visibly relieved. "If I help ya up, can you get up and walk?"
"Yeah. My bike still rideable?"
"Oh, sure. Just a few scratches."
"Cool. Lemme back on it."
"Uh...look, we're just about to break for lunch, and you look like you're in a bit of pain. Why don't you just walk it off for awhile, and make sure you're okay?"
"Well, all right".
So I did. I was a little sore, my ribs hurt a little where I landed on them. Oddly enough, it felt better to sit on the bike than to stand around.
After lunch, we did more practice exercises, then took a short break before we ran the course for score. The instructor came up to me.
"Okay, we're gonna run for score. We usually go alphabetically."
"Okay".
"Uh....that mean's you're first. Unless you don't want to be...."
"No. I'll go first."
"Okay. You're up!"
So I did it. Eight in the class, and we all passed.
About 4 of them came up to me and said the were "inspired" and "impressed" by my "toughness" and "tenacity".
I thanked them. However......
What I didn't tell them was I HAD to get back on that bike.
Because if I DIDN'T, I would NEVER hear the end of it from Mrs Skillet, nor would I be able to get a motorcycle without enduring the "mother of all harangues" from the missus.
I still don't have a motorcycle, but Mrs Skillet isn't (totally) opposed to my getting one.

As @Lumper Humper said great story. lol. You and Mrs Skillet are welcome on the sandbar if you can spin a tale like that in person.
