Anyone who tells you they made a million miles in 5 years is a either a liar, a moron, or one of those dumbsh*ts who just likes to stir up trouble. 200,000 miles a year? Get real. I ran 13,000 one month and it beat the crap outta me. You're talking a steady non-stop diet of 4k miles a week. They don't have the freight to support that when they're putting it all on the rail. Anyone who swallows this guy's line has gotta be stupid.

..if u meant lostheart she is a female driver according to her post.. but it would be interesting to start a new thread for the million + drivers just to hear how long it took & what their driving schedule was like. I don't remember the website company name but it was some trucking company that posted photos of their driver of the month, year, & the million mile drivers.. they had a few million milers, a couple of 2 mil drivers & one 3 mil driver! Must have been a good outfit to drive that many miles for 1 company, which brings to mind another question, wonder what company currently has the most million milers driving for them?
..now back to Marten, I've noticed on other threads more companies making per diem mandatory & I don't think this is legal from what I have read but I am going to check on this & post my findings here; I don't think they can.. -
I hate the new pay package. My new "wage" is $.25/mile. The per diem will only pay so much so when you reach the limit you get a pay cut (down to $.25/mile)
I live in Washington and I did check Marten does not have an overtime agreement with the state.
If you talk to a requiter and they tell you that you will be making $.38/mile you will be shocked when you get your first check!
Yes, getting a PO for a $9 scale ticket takes more time than it should, it would not suprise me to have them say "thats part of your per diem pay".
In this economy why would a company need to hire drivers in the numbers Marten is? We are not growing. -
We are hiring new drivers like crazy because people are quitting like crazy. I was in Forest Park 2 weekends ago and there were over 40 trucks empty. I don't think I have ever worked for a company that makes it so obvious that they don't care about you. I have been here like 14 months and am going to be leaving next summer just waiting for a speeding ticket to fall off my record.

Every Marten Driver I have spoken with says its terrible
therobot Thanks this. -
Companies can and do pay part of your wages as per deim but what sets companies apart like Marten is that they pay too much per deim so that you will acually owe money to the IRS at the end of the year and they also "CHARGE" you to pay you what you are owed. A reputable company will not charge it's drivers two and a half cents service charge to pay them what they are owed. Marten cheats their drivers every which way they can and like sheep they just stand around and take it.therobot Thanks this.

What is the speed limit on Marten trucks? What kind of miles are drivers getting?
-
Kind of disturbing to hear this. I go to orientation for Marten tomorrow. I was driving for an o/o and a friend just went to Marten, seeming to like it. I realize he's still on the "honeymoon".
You are right about the per diem, I opted out of it at Swift where you have a choice, but my recruiter at Marten said it was mandatory.
Donner, my friend says the trucks do 65 on cruise and pedal, my 13spd o/o's 'shaker did 62/76, it hauled! -
My personal experience with per diem - I made more money (net) after I signed a form opting out of the per diem... same company getting basicly the same miles everyweek. I think alot has to do with how much your claiming on taxes (w2), maybe somebody else could explain this more in detail. I was also told that if you are on the per diem, then you would not be able to claim the 52 bucks a day being away from home on your taxes...???
