Can't comment about trucking but Edmonton definitely seems to have more industry than Calgary. Nisku and Leduc to the south are full of heavy industry (shops, manufacturing etc). Acheson to the west has a fair amount of equipment dealers and contractors. Out east are the refinery facilities around Sherwood Park area.
Phantom Trucker and Logitech100 Thank this. -

if you're into oilfield, construction, or equipment hauling, definitely Edmonton.

Edmonton and area has way more industry. Calgary is more white collar business.

Not much comes out of Calgary, its all going in. So there's usually loads of trucks looking for loads so the rate is generally dire.
Edmonton has much more manufacturing so there's more loads, but the rates are still rubbish. You better make your money going in to Alberta because you won't coming back out of it! -
Edmonton area has far more Industrial.
Calgary area is more of a distribution hub.
All depends on the work you are looking for.BigHossVolvo Thanks this. -
If you want OTR coast to coast or to the US Calgary is the spot.
If you want local/regional or oilfield, definitely Edmonton. -
Flames win!! Jerome Ignalia isn't as good as Crosby but, he gets the job done!!
magoo68 Thanks this.
