getting into a TEAM lease program with Schneider.

I think it's 30%, maybe 35% of gross income is what you take home on an LP.

So you need to gross a quarter of a million to take home 80k.

You can make 80k on your own driving a company truck without all that extra work.

 

If it'd be a lease deal, it would almost certainly be 1099, no? Not sure myself, either.

Don't know about Schneider but there's been a few on here over the years that didn't end their lease on favorable terms.

 

I would think so. What happens if your teamate decides he doesn't want to drive for schneider any more and just up and quits, you are left with that truck. Unless its a deal where you can just hand the truck back with no penalties that's a lot of responsibilities on you.

I would need to see more than just that driver's check. Is he taking that much home after ALL expenses?. Fuel?, tolls?, maintenance escrow?. Don't forget what he showed you will be before taxes. Just because he "takes it home" doesn't mean it stays home. Every 3 months he will be sending some of that to the IRS.

 

Than leasing one *from* the same company you will drive for, yes. If you lease from the same company you will drive for, they will have too much control over your business such as how many miles you get, types of loads (heavy loads through the mountains will hurt your pocket more than light loads through the plains), how much they deduct for a maintenance account etc. Your success or failure will depend mostly on them, not necessarily on how hard you work. If you find you aren't making enough, the truck is tied to that company controlling your income, you can't take it with you to another company.
