are guys getting called back or still getting laid off? based on what the stock is doing it must mean that you are getting a lot busier.

    Nothing but a short squeeze.

    Fundamentals have not changed.

Down 9.0% today, down 15% in 2 days.

    And going lower.....

Here in Toronto, Canada we had a vote 2 weeks ago to take a 15% wage cutback, we voted 100% no....then the layoffs started all over again, customer service is at an all time low, can't get the freight delivered or picked up. We were told 2 months ago that they were going to close one of our satilite terminals, two days before the closure they decided to leave it open on a week to week basis....you can imagine the morale...this company is run by people that have no clue.....

You had a 100% no vote on a pay cut and are surprised there are layoffs afterward?

Seems the people running the company aren't the only ones without a clue.

Same here Mooney. I don't get that one, they vote 100 percent no on a pay cut and then act surprised when the layoffs started? Hope he didn't honestly think the company would say "Oh no problem, we'll just operate like we did before."

Nobody else has the volume of layoffs we do. This company
is in the crapper! The economy will bring us down.
Rumor in Bloomington is their getting ready to ask
for another 5%! My reply was shut it down! Along with

well 210 jobs were bid for 377 people on the last bid. well thanks to the roadway system of doing buisness 15 more were laid off as of last week with 2 yellow dock foremans and the hostling coordinator.

the barn closes on saturday and reopens sunday. we were told on saturday in a meeting that if this does not work (closing on the week end) 402 will become a end of the line terminal, with more layoffs.

now i only say the roadway of doing buisness, because yellow never laid us off the way they do now. and hey roadway knows how to run a freight co.

Then explain why ot OKC\531 we just laid 4 more off on dock but have been forcing overtime almost every day bringing in double time guys and cant get the freight moved because we dont have enough people. left 12 city loads friday didnt even attempt to deliver. No laid offs brought in. Yea Great way to run a company.
They said bean counter said we would be 10% less than last year. There was no LAST YEAR and we are already 70% less than last year so how can you predict. We are acually getting more freight levels are increasing and now were pissing off the customers that we do have.

Female city dock supervisor was axed at the end of her shift Monday morning at 257! Nice of management to let her work out her 4 day shift, and then let her go! Another Roadway legacy employee bites the dust!

Wait until December if you want to see some real layoffs. I took a LOA until next year, I don't really expect to have a job to come back too. YRC may go under and so will many more companies, looks like we are in the greatest depression and don't know it yet, because of the great cover up(stimulus money).

    as of 10/11/2009 875 (Portland-OR) laid off 13 guys with 40 already on lay-off
    cityguy875

There are 311 on that board with 53 now laid off. If you had at least 7 years seniority, you would have worked most of this year. Portland 875 fared better than many terminals.

I am hearing Jeff G regional manager in Denver is no longer with the company

If Jeff G is gone it is nothing but positive for us at 881 Salt Lake City. Now I just hope they move fast to put a good open-minded person in his place. They need to make positive changes fast. We need leadership that has an open mind to working with the whole terminal not a divisive mindset.

All four of our dispatchers are working real hard on the one shift
to put that one load per hour out of our terminal. Zollar's is right,
YRC can't find good people to work in the office
so we'll keep all of our managers.

218 has had another 4 road men laid off. However in other news the foreign driver onslaught continues. 407 continues to monitor the situation with there thumb up their butt. This now puts us with 128 active drivers. We had 358 before the merger where as 82 more came in bringing what should be 440 drivers. Hey good job 407 by not doing the monitoring of our lanes we are now down to 25% of our driver work force. I think they are striving for 20%.

So, what now in regards to the chicago vote.
there is no way they could shut them down completely. But could a change of operations be around the corner? The company had to know there was a chance this was going to happen, so I assume they have a plan up their sleeves. Any guesses?

Whatever the plan is it takes money, terminals, and manpower. Opps! Their lacking in all of those. Never stopped them before. I'm sure they will do something stupid, maybe they will lose more customers. That's it will shrink our way to prosperity! Then will ask our bankers for another credit amendment or the union for more concessions. It's amazing what a corp. without a conscience can accomplish. Now that's a plan!

Was told by union steward that 100 people will be called back to work in Rock Island and 100 in LaSalle/Peru. LaSalle/Peru is a brand new term w/ 86 doors and currently they only use about 35. NOt sure if true.
