Cheaper health care rates might also be good for the economy.

The trucking rates keep products cheaper, but healthier people keep things running in every area.

As a big orange truck executive told me a few years back. "We have a set profit per truck". Its lower than the drivers wage per day. "We strive to average that number per truck across the fleet, and we are making money".

They do not and have zero plans of trying to maximize truck profit or revenue per truck like a small fleet or owner op. Because we can not compete.

The way to beat them however is level of service. You can beat them everytime.

Not to mention that all of the megas combined do not haul close to 10% of the freight.

    Really.?
If us smaller outfits account for moving ~90% of America's freight, then how did they (megas) get so much power in the way of new regulations.?

Seems to me whatever nonsense they decide comes down the pike sooner or later.. Maybe I'm wrong.? Just how it looks from here..

Megas have the power because big money talks.

This is basically it. Despite how much OOIDA talks they don’t come close to the lobbying power that the ATA has.

That's the truth. Whether its trucking or any other industry, in a capitalist society, that MO ey always talks. The ATA dealing with the megas is why they push driver shortage so hard. Megas have big time customers and sometimes not enough drivers to cover, so they broker some of those loads out. Just about every big company has a brokerage division. They can scoop up other loads too, but they are gonna take care of their customers.
