OK, for the 4th time this year, we have been shortpaid by $25 on a load. I call the broker and ask why. "We use truckstop * com and if they have to send a paper check, they deduct $25."
My response was that "I did not make any agreement with TS*com. My deal was with you. You need to pay ME. If you paid them the full amount to pay me, then YOU need to make sure that we get our money".
Is anyone else experiencing a rash of this continued bilking?????

As the man said, use direct deposit. You pay a few to use Comchek don't you?

Is the broker using the Truckstop Pay system?
I don't like it. My experience That service adds 7-10 days to the pay date.

I used a broker frequently before they adopted this pay system. They were at 30 days to pay before truckstop, After 2 loads with the delay, I don't call about their loads anymore.

Yeah, can't speak to this. We don't use their pay service.

You have missed the point. I am ok with ACH and they have our ACH info. My frustration is that now there is another unnecessary middle man doing everything he can, where he is not necessary, to steal a few dollars from trucking companies.
The broker has agreed to pay the carrier. It was never agreed that the broker would give their money to truckstop-com who then placed stipulations on what the carrier has to do to get the money. Now, imagine that truckstop handles 100,000 payments a week and 10,000 of those are paper checks for which they charge $25,000 to the carrier. There is no scenario where it should cost the carrier to get their payment, except in a quick-pay or factoring situation.

Keeping up with paper checks takes manpower. You might sit on it for two weeks and not cash it. You might lose it and have to be reissued another one. Then someone has to take time to stop payment on that check and wait a few days. Direct deposit cures a lot of ills. I haven't seen a pay stub in years. My money goes directly in and I got an electronic W2 at the end of the year. It's the way things are done. To avoid the broker having to pay for extra staff for validation, etc. they use a professional service to handle the paperwork. I work for a driver staffing company. Many places don't want to keep up with having to track my hours, etc. So they use a staffing company that does all that. This is not uncommon. Many people lease trucks from Penske so they don't have to have a mechanic, garage, etc. Third party work is becoming the norm.

If it is one time situation, not much you can do. However with same broker same load as a carrier I choose not carry. At times broker may think he makes the rules for both parties. Win win or no deal, best policy.
