I just had 2 tires replaced on my trailer and it has an auto inflation system.
Since the tires were installed, I have an alert to a 'problem' (it would be helpful to have a light for each tire that would indicate which one was the problem child, as opposed to just one light)....
I pull over and get out, give each tire a thump with my mini sledge. No problem children found, no sounds of a leak.... now I am puzzled.
Normally, the indicator goes out within 5 rolling miles. Today it took almost 30.
Any advice?
Is there a driver level test that we can use to determine if further diagnostics/repairs/maintenance is needed?

30 minutes to get it up to pressure usually means a nail or something stuck in a tire. You should be able to hear or feel it. An auto-inflator can fill a completely flat tire in 30 minutes.

But I don't hear any leaks?

I may be a smart ace here, but use your eyes? May only be barely leaking.
snowwy Thanks this. -
If it only did it the one time after getting new tires: the shop may have only put 30 or 50 lbs in the tires , knowing that your inflation system will fill them up the rest of the way.
I told a shop to do that once, they were busy and I was in a hurry. Trailer was empty, tires were up to pressure by the time I got to load point. -
Heck, had one yesterday that had a bolt in the tire and leaking around it. No light at all from the auto inflation system.

I didn't have this problem BEFORE the tires were replaced. They were replaced due to wear.

One possibility is that the tire shop inflated the tires above the set point of the system. Tiremaxx is supposed to regulate the air to stay within a set range. I don’t know if Meritor does that or not.

I think I found the problem children, but need to confirm.....
Believe it or not, the NEW tires(2 days old), seemed a little low on pressure when left standing for a little bit, not a lot, but I am thinking the shop missed something when they remounted them?
I am thinking that it's going to be more obvious when cold?FerrissWheel Thanks this.
